|Sad But Important Maine Ericson Owners Association Notice |
6/15/2017 – Jim Keefer, Admiral of the Maine Ericson fleet, crossed over the bar today.
Jim spent his entire life "messing about with boats”. His knowledge of boats both old and new, as well as the individuals and families that crewed them, was unsurpassed. If Jim was present at the dinghy dock during summer no dinghy crew passed through that was not at least greeted by Jim with assistance with a pennant line or a word of encouragement.
Jim’s love of the Maine Ericson fleet and crews knew absolutely no limitation. He was always available to talk about mechanicals on the boats. His practiced eye was there to coach better sail trim on the water. And he was also willing to put himself on the line to crew if he was able to help out.
It hurts deeply to know he will no longer be there to support and lead us.
The Officers and Members of MEOA want Sue and Stacy and Sally and their families to know that their pain is our pain, and we will all miss Jim very much.
Sue has let us know that as soon as memorial arrangements have been completed she will share the details with all of us. Please stand by until then.
